The title assigned to this post is the funniest and most apt of any blog I have read so far regarding the Nobel prize. And believe me, I have read hundreds, as I do this for a living. Certainly cannot quarrel with its content either, as most Americans concur with your assessment.
I would submit that Obama's selection was a dream come true for this committee. He stands exactly for what they believe in...nationalized health care, socialist economic system, etc. Whether or not it was a slap at George W, I am not sure.
It appears to me that this prize has the potential for a devastating effect in Obama's so-far non-existent foreign policy. In order to prove that he is worthy of a "peace" prize, how the world thinks he should behave, he could very well find himself in a straight jacket when it comes to making effective, critical national security issues. This could be particularly devastating to a country such as Israel facing Iran's threat.
Meanwhile, the Europeans are having a field day with this. It is as much a joke to them, as it is to Mr. Raben. And rightfully so.

would luv 2 know who nominated him after only 10 days in office. obama team? shame its sealed for 50 yrs.
