poland is one of the promising countries to come out from under the yoke of the former soviet union. the recent loss of its president and a cadre of his leadership is a human and political loss of much magnitude.
i dont know who was flying the plane but this was a major fuck up and was avoidable, in part or in whole.
first you dont put your whole administration on one airplane
two, you dont have some cowboy flying the plane
i hope poland recovers from this and doesnt get pulled back into the clutches of russia

it is my understanding that the crash was due to pilot error...but also the plane itself was a piece of junk.
poland is a fine ally of the united states. haven spent time there, you would not believe the love they have for our country. it is refreshing to hear us be praised by the polish people. they appreciate their freedom.
fortunately for poland, they do have roots in democracy. unfortunately for them, they have no natural borders...they are a flat plain, which makes it so easy to be invaded.
i am certain russia will make their move one day again against them.
a great tragedy for that country, it certainly is.
